Foxhills funding continues to support families in Surrey with launch of new youth club and school holiday camps

As Foxhills looks ahead to its 50th anniversary, Surrey’s leading country club and resort has bolstered its ongoing commitment to the local community with the return and launch of two fully-funded charitable initiatives to support families.

Funded by Foxhills members and the club’s charitable trust, the Pooley Green Youth Project is a new initiative for 2024 which will support more than 150 youngsters between years nine and eleven across the school holidays.

The youth club, held every Friday afternoon at the Hythe Centre in Egham, is organised in partnership with Surrey Police and Runnymede Borough Council, providing a safe and engaging environment for teenagers in the local area for both social and personal development.

Returning for a fifth consecutive year, the Foxhills Community Camp offers free school holiday camps for those aged six to fourteen who have been referred by Social Services.

Created in 2019, the initiative is organised by Runnymede Borough Council and funded by the Hayton Charitable Trust, and gives local children access to a supervised programme of enriching educational experiences and entertainment, with everything from bushcraft activities and orienteering to sports, group project work and science experiments. Breakfast, lunch, dinner and transport are also provided.

The camps run throughout August at the Big Hat Bushcamp in Lyne and Egham Orbit, providing an invaluable resource for parents and carers who may not otherwise be able to afford childcare.

Marc Hayton, Foxhills Club & Resort’s CEO, said: “Our role in the community has always been important and we continue to look at ways to support that align with our brand values.

“Our Charitable Trust has pledged £200k over six years and we’re grateful that Foxhills members have now joined the funding, contributing £15k and counting.

“Foxhills is proud to be able to offer this support to local families during the ever-challenging period of summer where children need occupying whilst off school. The camps allow children to still have a fun-filled summer holiday to remember, without putting any further financial strain on parents or carers.”

The four Co-Leaders of Runnymede Borough Council said: “One of our central missions is to create an environment locally which supports both the health and wellbeing of our community; including through the activities we make available to residents.

“The Pooley Green Youth Project and the Foxhills Community Camps which we’ve organised for young people are genuinely making a difference to their lives. During the summer holiday break from school, they are learning skills and keeping a positive focus.

“We’re very grateful to Foxhills, individual club members, and the Hayton Charitable Trust for the financial support which has meant these important activities can continue this year, and their generosity in helping new programmes to launch as well.”
